I don’t know about you, but I love the fact that Sheep Creek Water Company is a small mutual water company.\u00a0 There are only 8000 shares in total, and they all have a vote on what is happening with the company.\u00a0 This is one of the best practical applications of democracy in action:\u00a0 we as shareholders have the most significant voice in deciding what happens with our water company, and therefore our community.<\/p>\n

This year in particular is an important turning point for the company.\u00a0 A year ago, consolidation with PPHCSD<\/a> was seemingly in the final stages of completion.\u00a0 Now things have changed dramatically.\u00a0 We have one and a half years left to meet the demands of the state’s compliance order from 2018.\u00a0\u00a0 We are also going to have to figure out how to pay for some badly needed infrastructure upgrades over the next decade or so.\u00a0 We also have to decide whether or not to let the board start buying back some of the company’s stock.<\/p>\n

There is also an election for the Board of Directors.\u00a0 I strongly believe it is time for new leadership on the Board of Directors.\u00a0 It’s time to replace the people whose leadership has brought compliance orders from the state, failed attempts at consolidation, and no vision for the future of this water company and community.\u00a0 That is why I am running for the Board this year, along with Debra Philips and Brek Randolph.\u00a0 It’s time for positive change in our community.<\/p>\n

No matter how you decide to vote, it’s important that your voice be heard and your vote counted!\u00a0 I hope to see you at the annual meeting tomorrow!\u00a0 10AM at Pinon Mesa Middle School.<\/p>\n
